‘Land of The Free’

Today’s post  come from the new age revolutionary Joey Bada$$ as he releases a powerful new video for his superb new single, “Land of the Free,” which  is one of the best protest anthem, social injustice conscious songs of the year. The video accents the songs cutting, political lyrics accompanied by jazzy melodic production. Ending the video with strong imagery of a burning cross surrounded by Ku Klux Klan members and people hanging with a noose. Disturbing, yet effective tactics from Joey, whose new album All- Amerikkan Bada$$ drops on April 7. Make sure you check this revolutionary anthem out below and as always…

No Presidents

“Land of the Free, Home of the Brave” still in the year 2016, we are taught the illusion that our country ,The United States of America, is a perfect harmonious society. In reality, we suffer from many underlying societal flaws and fallacies. They are plaguing the people and pretending to provide salvation and false hope, implementing their govern laws and social structures to keep a hierarchy of power through control, creating a domino effect that’s generational afflicting poverty, mental instability and illness, failed education systems, manipulated penial institutions and poor health care. In result, this also creates a different kind of breed; one whom needs no assistance from the long arm that oppresses its people. Today we have such a word warrior from Memphis Tennessee, Jessi Jumanji, and she delivers food for thought with her debut single “No Presidents”. A very time sensitive song shedding light on topics such as the presidential election as well as the humane injustices haunting the Sam Dubose Trial in the Greater Cincinnati Area. Encouraging listeners to govern themselves no matter who’s in office, to take responsibility of their community by resurrecting self-sufficient business, and a nation of thinker’s who look within for leadership and stability. Eliminating a political system and government that promises to fix the same problems every four years. Forcing Jessi to raise the question do we really need a President to lead us? If the same problems have been trickled down since the birth of this nation, then why do we continue putting people in office who don’t deliver results? The definition of insanity is when you continue to do the same thing and expect different results; so, as a nation are we all just insane?

Hope It don’t Kill Me

Arin Ray blesses our page today with his romantic language of love on his latest single ‘Hope It Don’t Kill Me’ which features the talented guru Boogie. The two discuss love and relationship and how they sacrificed themselves for love, in hopes that it’s not their demise. Taking a road less traveled by most youth in our generation, living in a over saturated society that promotes one-night stands and emotionless hook-ups, making love more about lust than feeling. Which is why it’s so important Arin releases this single to let his listeners know that chivalry isn’t dead by showing positive images of minority youth together in a relationship.  Providing an outlet of simple reality, showing vulnerability and a human element instead of the far-fetched happy ever after stories or one hitter quitters we are so use to seeing. ANoyd with mumble rap? Here is a sigh of relief.

ANoyd is a name I had never heard of in rap before last week. I came across him freestyling on Funk Flex where he spazzed, his passion for music and his hunger for success became evident when the veins in his forehead started to pop out.  After listening to that freestyle and seeing the visible passion, I looked him up in YouTube, where I came across two of his singles, “Altitude” and “It’s Different Now,” and from what I heard, in my opinion he will be a household name in hip-hop sooner than later.  Both songs are absolutely fire and offer a snippet of his content versatility.  On “Altitude” he offers pieces of his journey to success where he lets the listener in on the struggles and successes he has endured up to this point of his journey.   On “It’s Different Now” he is just like a lyrical AK where he barely allows the beat to breathe and he drops so many bars you will hear something new for at least the 5 times you listen to the song.  If you are a fan of hip-hop, you will be a fan of ANoyd.  He is an artist that will hold your attention and gain your respect.  While writing this I came across ANoyd on DJ Enuff’s show where once again he expanded his content versatility and increased my respect for his art.  He touched on his perspective of being a black man in America and the things that come with that.  All 3 videos are attached and are worth taking out time to listen to, as the lyricism and wittiness of Anoyd’s bars is sure to captivate you. No doubt, you will like at least one of the videos/songs, and would be surprised if you don’t like them all. As Always,
