Eric Williams II better known by his stage name B.A.S.I.C. (an acronym for Be About Success In Controversy) is an up and coming American hip-hop artist with much promise. Born in Honolulu, Hawaii and raised in Virginia Beach, Virginia, the Aspire To Inspire Music Group representative came out of the shadows when he made it to the final round of Norfolk radio station’s 103 Jamz Fest in the summer of 2012. Since then he has been in the studio working hard and hitting the scene, especially after the release of his project in March 2013 titled “XXV (25)” collage of lyrics that express feelings, stories, and lessons learned from his journey as a 25 year old man in Virginia. Shortly after its release, B.A.S.I.C. won Hip Hop Artist Of The Year, as well as winning the Mixtape Of The Year Award sponsored by DS Magazine. While constantly connecting with people via social media on a personal level to organically build his fan base, B.A.S.I.C. has performed countless times all over within his hometown and has also gained notoriety by performing in North Carolina, New York and Connecticut. In November of 2014, he released a self-produced and personal song called ‘Ups & Downs,’ the first single from his upcoming album “E,” that received air play on 103 Jamz and substantial traffic on various blogs.
