Nu Africa

Today’s post comes from the lyrical hyena, CyHi The Prince as he blesses us with his vision for a new world in his latest single “Nu Africa”. Showing visuals of inner city living in America with protesters expressing their discontent for the “Land of the Free”. Declaring a decree for all indigenous people to return to their land, encouraging listeners and peers to invest in each other to build their own society in the pursuit of happiness. Calling out celebrities to redirect their money into investments on soil in the Mother Land rather than the other land. Transforming the thinking of the youth to expand their horizons while challenging years of generational suffrage from it’s oppressors. Summarized by a timeless piece from the amazing poet Ernestine Johnson at the end  dropping knowledge while adding to the message.

B.A.S.I.C

Eric Williams II better known by his stage name B.A.S.I.C. (an acronym for Be About Success In Controversy) is an up and coming American hip-hop artist with much promise. Born in Honolulu, Hawaii and raised in Virginia Beach, Virginia, the Aspire To Inspire Music Group representative came out of the shadows when he made it to the final round of Norfolk radio station’s 103 Jamz Fest in the summer of 2012. Since then he has been in the studio working hard and hitting the scene, especially after the release of his project in March 2013 titled “XXV (25)” collage of lyrics that express feelings, stories, and lessons learned from his journey as a 25 year old man in Virginia. Shortly after its release, B.A.S.I.C. won Hip Hop Artist Of The Year, as well as winning the Mixtape Of The Year Award sponsored by DS Magazine. While constantly connecting with people via social media on a personal level to organically build his fan base, B.A.S.I.C. has performed countless times all over within his hometown and has also gained notoriety by performing in North Carolina, New York and Connecticut. In November of 2014, he released a self-produced and personal song called ‘Ups & Downs,’ the first single from his upcoming album “E,” that received air play on 103 Jamz and substantial traffic on various blogs. With claims of this particular album being his most personal and reflecting body of work, B.A.S.I.C. is hedging forward in showcasing his talents and abilities as a staple in Virginia’s hip hop culture, while pursuing and reaching the globe over.
